DAY 5 IN OSAKA: TO KYOTO

Moving on to Day 5 in Japan! We went to Kyoto! This is going to be a loooong post again! x.x

Day 5:
• Travel to Kyoto
1.     Kinkaku-ji 金閣寺
2.     Ginkaku-ji 銀閣寺
3.     Nanzen-ji 南禅寺
• Dinner at Ninja Kyoto Restaurant
• Cherry blossoms viewing at Maruyama Park (visited on Day 6 instead)
• Stay at Kyoto's apartment

Another early morning for us.. We are soooo sleep-deprived now >.<
Bought some onigiri in case we get hungry later! We ate it while waiting for our bus to Kinkakuji!

Bought Kyoto One Day Bus Card for unlimited bus ride!

You can plan your bus route in Kyoto here! Our first stop in Kyoto is Kinkaku-ji, or known as the Golden Pavilion! We alighted at Kinkakuji Michi 金閣寺道(バス) bus stop! If you are coming to Kyoto during peak season, expect crowds everywhere and anywhere! We need to keep waiting for slightly lesser people before we were able to take photos! >.<

Long queue already even though we were there quite early!

Kinkakuji!

After Kinkakuji, we head to bus down to Ginkakuji. Ginkakuji is located near the Path of Philosophy where it is lined with cherry blossoms trees! PHOTO TIME!!
Pretty sakuras!

Before going to Ginkakuji, it's time for lunch first! Before Omen おめん 銀閣寺本店 was opened, there was already a loooooong queue! :/ Don't be like us and just join the queue Singaporean-style! You should write down your name and number of people on the paper in front of the store first!! The staff seats guest using the list, not the queue!!

Ocha and warm towels

Seasonings for udon

We are seated at the tatami area

Vegetables for our udon!

UDON!

Menu

Basically, we just watched how others eat their udon and we copied them! >.< You put the udon into the soup and add veggies and seasonings! It is super delicious! Yum! :P For directions and store details, click >>here<<

While walking towards Ginkakuji after lunch, we saw a roadside stall selling taiyaki! We never say no to food, even if it is just after our lunch! We bought 1 to share! It is filled with red beans and mushy inside! Yum!

Swimming in sakuras!

Finally, we reached Ginkakuji! The crowd is even worse here! We didn't get to take much initially because there is basically just 1 single line to walk along the path; especially at where the sand formations are located.

After Ginkakuji, we will be walking along Path of Philosophy towards Nanzenji. We bought another snack along the way, chestnut mochi! The chestnut is very nice! Very flavourful!

We bought the chestnut mochi

And then, we saw ice cream! So, it's time for ice cream next!! ;D
Many flavours to choose from!

Soda and sakura flavoured ice cream!

There are fishes in that canal where the cherry blossoms trees are! Can you see it?

Artists at work!

Different coloured sakura!

Lack of sleep and constant walking is making us super tired... Finally we reached Nanzenji!

As we were tired, we didn't walk a lot to explore Nanzenji. This area is rather large! We went to Tsujiri Honten in Gion for some matcha delights! Loooong queue again! We still have time before our reservation at Ninja Kyoto, so we decided join to queue~ For directions and store details, click >>here<<

I'm not really a matcha fan, out of these 2 we ordered, I prefer the ice cream. The amount of jelly in the second dessert was a bit too much and doesn't have much taste; we didn't manage to finish it.

Time for us to head to Ninja Kyoto for dinner! For my full review on Ninja Kyoto, click >>here<<

Reached our apartment!

We decided to have 1 bed each!
Nights all!
And... that's the end of Day 5!
